37Studio is now open source: an AI video studio that runs on your own computer

Today we're opening up something we've been building for months. 37Studio is now open source under the MIT License. It's an AI video studio and social media desk that runs on your own computer: it makes videos in your brand, posts them to your accounts, and helps answer the messages that come back. No license key, no trial, no paid tier.

Why we built it

Most small businesses we work with in Bangladesh know they need short video. Reels, Shorts and TikToks are where their customers are. What they don't have is an editor on staff, or the budget for a stack of monthly subscriptions: one tool for editing, another for scheduling, another for the inbox, each charging in dollars every month.

We wanted one app that does the whole loop, from a brief to a posted video to a reply in the customer's own language, and that costs nothing to run beyond the AI you actually use. So 37Studio is built around a simple idea: bring your own keys, pay the providers directly, keep your files on your own machine.

What it does

A brand library from a website. Paste a brand's URL, or point it at the brand's project folder, and in about 5 to 10 minutes 37Studio sorts out its logos, people, photos, fonts and exact colours, and writes a design system and a knowledge base. Every video and every reply after that draws on them.

An editor agent that builds the video. Describe what you want and Claude Code, running as the editor agent, builds it as an animated HyperFrames composition in that brand. It probes and cuts your footage, renders stills to check its own frames, and fixes what's off. Ask for changes in plain words, or open the timeline and edit by hand.

Many kinds of output. Hook reels, captioned clips, motion-graphics explainers, podcast clips, promo ads, square and portrait posts, and thumbnails. Any finished video can be saved as a template for the next one.

Long recordings into many videos. A 2-hour class can become ten reels. Transcription runs locally with faster-whisper, so it's free, private and works in about 100 languages, Bangla included. YouTube and Google Drive links import directly.

Publishing to nine platforms. Facebook Pages, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest, Bluesky and Mastodon. Claude writes a caption suited to each platform, short for X and Bluesky, professional for LinkedIn, a title and description for YouTube, and you can edit every one before it goes out. Post now or schedule it.

Autopilot. Write a content plan in a sentence, like "3 reels a week with one product tip each, 8 pm, to our Page and Instagram". 37Studio makes each video a few hours before its slot and waits for your one-click approval, or posts on its own if you allow it.

One inbox. Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp messages, plus Facebook and Instagram comments, in one place. Replies are drafted from the brand's knowledge base, in the customer's language, following the brand's own rules. Each brand chooses: off, drafts to approve, or fully automatic. When the answer isn't in the knowledge base, it says a team member will reply instead of making something up.

Run it by chatting. The Assistant in the sidebar can add a brand, plan a campaign, publish yesterday's video or tell you what you spent this month. And through 37Studio's MCP server, you can drive the whole studio from your own agent, such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop or Cursor.

Real costs, no markup. Every project, campaign and brand shows what it cost in AI usage, in your currency. You pay Anthropic, Google, ElevenLabs or whichever providers you add, directly. Rendering and storage cost nothing because they run on your machine.

Local-first by design

Everything runs in one Docker container, on your computer or on your own server. Footage, brands and messages stay there, and API keys and platform credentials are encrypted on disk.

Nothing is sent to Shaitrish. The only things that leave your machine are calls to the AI providers you've set up, uploads to the platforms you connect, and an update check against GitHub Releases. Each social platform connects through your own free developer app, not one of ours, so there's no middleman holding your account access.

How it's put together

For the developers reading this:

• Go serves the app as one binary, with SQLite for storage and a React UI.
• Claude Code does the editing. Each turn runs in the project's folder with the brand's knowledge base, design system and library, under a hard per-turn budget. Quality tiers choose between Haiku, Sonnet and Opus. Other models (GPT, Grok, Kimi, GLM, DeepSeek and more) can run the agent through OpenCode, and Codex can run it on a ChatGPT plan.
• HyperFrames renders. A video is an HTML page with timing attributes, which an agent writes reliably and which plays live in the browser. Export renders frame by frame with headless Chrome and ffmpeg.
• faster-whisper transcribes on the CPU, about 1.3 times the recording's length on a 12-core laptop.
• Gemini and fal.ai (Seedance, Kling, Veo, Wan and others) can generate images and clips, and ElevenLabs adds voice, sound effects and music. The agent only reaches for them when the footage and brand library can't do the job, and asks before a project's media spend passes your limit.

All of it ships in a single image for amd64 and arm64.

Try it

You need Docker Desktop (Windows, macOS) or Docker Engine (Linux), 16 GB of RAM, about 20 GB of free disk, and a Claude plan or an Anthropic API key.

1. Install Docker Desktop and open it once.
2. Download 37studio.zip and unzip it into a folder you'll keep.
3. Double-click start.bat on Windows or start.command on Mac, or run ./start.sh on Linux.

The app opens at http://localhost:8080. The setup guide walks through every step, and Connect your social accounts explains each platform in plain words.
